It's Summer, Show Me Some Skin!!!

The Orange Wine Gathering Specialists (OWGS) have been besieged with a flood of requests (read: 2) to divulge what bottles have been assembled for the Great Summer of Orange, to occur SOON (when?) and in a BIG ORANGE way.

What Skin will the OWGS be Showing? The public wants to know. And it has a right to know, all the better to not duplicate on the BYOO (Bring Your Own Orange) side of things.

Without further ado, the Mighty List of Orange (List-O):

Kante Sauvignon 2006 (Friuli, Italia)
Damijan Kaplja 2004 (Friuli, Italia)
Radikon Jakot 2003 (Friuli, Italia)
Gravner Breg Amphora 2001 (Friuli, Italia)
Gravner Ribolla Gialla Amphora 2001 (Friuli, Italia)
Casa Coste Piane Tranquillo 2006 (Veneto, Italia)
La Biancara Taibane 1996 (Veneto, Italia) from magnum
Ca de Noci Notte di Luna 2006 (Emilia, Italia)
Ca de Noci Notte di Luna 2007 (Emilia, Italia)
La Stoppa Ageno 2004 (Emilia, Italia)
Monastero Suore Cistercensi Coenobium 2006 (Lazio, Italia)
De Conciliis Antece 2004 (Campania, Italia)

The OWGS has made every effort to break out of the "Friuli Box" and also to provide a bit of Orange Juice with age.

And with these small stones will we lay a foundation of knowledge.
Or whatever.

Speaking as one acolyte to another, I can tell you that the Taibane '96 was my WINE OF 2008, the most Amazing of Amazings. It will be at the Grand Summer Orange-Wine-A-Thon, as will other SkinHeads.

Where will you be?

So who's going to organize the flyover country version?

Mark Lipton
If you would look at the standard rules and regs for a jeebus in the flyover country "they are to take place on the 32nd day of August only." Actually that seems too generous to many of us.

Levi, you are missing orange wines like these from my cellar:

2005 Movia Lunar

2004 Vodopivec Vitovska (I have 2002 as well, but saving this last bottle)

2006 Frank Cornelissen MunJebel 3

Oh, and please add me to the SF list.

I'm still planning to organize the west coast version of this. Simultaneous if possible! How fun would that be?

Oh, and the '04 Tannahill Jack was similarly boring, particularly for a wine billed as a "baby Gravner".

count me in. la ciccia might be the perfect spot to drink orange wine btw.

At this point, the west coast edition looks like:

Radikon Ribolla Gialla, 2002 (Friuli)
Zidarich Vitovska, 2000 (Friuli)
Gravner Ribolla Gialla Anfora, 2001 (Friuli)
Vodopivec Vitovska, 2004 (Friuli)
La Stoppa Ageno, 2004 (Emilia-Romagna)
Coenobium Rusticum, 2007 (Lazio)
Frank Cornelissen MunJebel 3, 2006 (Sicily)
Movia Lunar, 2005 (Slovenia)
Natural Process Alliance chardonnay, 2008 (Sonoma Coast)

I'm sorta counting on the guys at Terroir cutting me some slack on about 750ml of NPA chard. Or even better, maybe we could get Kevin onboard.

Shouldn't be a problem to add a Radikon Jakot and one or more Georgian anfora wines.

I have a friend who sells Scholium, so we could probably include his skin fermented gewurztraminer or whatever it is that comes in the weird 500ml bottles.

Jim, any chance we might be able to include a Cowan Cellars skin-fermented white?

Any west coast lurkers sitting on a bottle of Notte di Luna?

I can offer any or all of the following for NYC:

2006 Scholium Project San Floriano Del Collio Rocky Hill Vineyards
(this is the best example of skin fermented Scholium the Lost Slough Gewurtz mentioned above is extended lees but is not really an orange wine)

2007 Wind Gap Pinot Gris

2004 Vodopivec MM4

2005 Zidarich Malvasia

2006 Cornelissen Munjebel 4

2004 Paolo Bea Arboreus

2007 Paolo Bea Santa Chiara (maybe 04)

I have other vintages for Gravner and Radikon as well...
