It's Summer, Show Me Some Skin!!!

Was this a one-off in 2007 or is there a 2008 version in the works? There's an article covering this along with Kevin Kelley in the newest Wine and Spirits and I couldn't tell if it referred to the same grape source for the 2008 Natural Process Alliance Pinot Gris.

It does look like there's still some still available at CSW, I wish I could spring for some right now.

Cheers,

Kevin

Okay it looks like I at least partially answered my own question, the NPA Pinot Gris grapes come from Windsor Oaks.

Wind Gap is the new winery from Pax Mahle. Very different style than the Pax wines. He is also no longer involved with Pax. The ones I have tried have been excellent.

Hey, thanks. They'd told me they wouldn't be getting any.

So I have a bottle of this I could bring.

I'd be curious about the 2000 Radikon Ribolla.

Let me get a bottle of Wind Gap and I can bring that, as my stocks of older orange wines have dwindled from zero to zero.

But I need to know soon.

August 2nd might not work for me as I will probably be out on the West Coast.

I might be able to do August 9-10 in Tudor City.

I'll have to buy wine in NY if I'm going to add to it, can't be carrying.

Just to weigh in for a second about the timing of ORANGE NYC, July 19th won't work for the restaurant. It will have to be later in July, or in early August. I'll set a date tomorrow morning and any necessary travel plans can be made.

A menu has been worked out and I'll post that tomorrow as well.

August 9 or 10 is my vote.

Any west coast lurkers sitting on a bottle of Notte di Luna?

Yes.
I was thinking my only orange wine was Arbois Poulsard (does this even count?),
but I do have a Notte di Luna left, 2006 I think.
When are you thinking of doing this? It would require a fair amount of advance planning for me to make the trek south.

If we can do it in Oaxaca, that works for me.

Marc, it would be great if you (and your Notte di Luna) could join us. I'm waiting for Sig. Dalton's announcement in hopes we can do the same date here in San Francisco.

And while you won't find it in the OCW, I believe when we say "orange wines", we are speaking exclusively of wines made from white varieties fermented (at least partially) on their skins. While exceptions might be made for borderline grapes like pinot gris, poulsard is still a red grape if a less-pigmented one, so I don't think it quite fits the bill.

"Jim, any chance we might be able to include a Cowan Cellars skin-fermented white?"

Holy cow, you actually were listening?
We'll see how its tasting out of barrel but I think I can probably bring a sample. It may not be tasty but it will be unique.
Best, Jim

I am out of the country 8/7-8/15. Many mushrooms calling.

Bring back some fresh corn fungus. Enough with the canned stuff!

Oh and when are you going to organize a local hunting trip? Enough with your West Coast and foreign forays. Local ain't good enough for you?

I thought that was the whole point of orange wines?
