I suppose I don't have to tell any of you that Camille Saves makes a great rose.

Sorry about your Montevertine, sucks.
The '89 Gonon St Joseph I opened with my parents last week to celebrate their 50th Wedding anniversary was corked. It was a recent purchase, so at least it wasn't sitting in the cellar taking up space the whole time.

I think a few years back someone (Eden Mylunch?) mentioned that pink sparkler on WT. Every bottle of it I've tried since that recommendation has been great.

It is a scary thought.

I remember a picture in an auction catalog of a kid standing next to a huge bottle of Montrachet (6L? 9L?). Anyhow, the bottle was as tall as the kid, and IIRC the estimate was $42,000. Can you imagine how bummed you'd be if you had 30 of your best friends over to drink it and it was corked? That's how my mind worked.
 
Don't feel too bad Jay. I'm sure John Gilman can comfort you with the thought that if a certain alternative closure had been used the wine would have been even worse. (Pardon me while I duck for cover.)
 
Thanks for the sympathy everyone. Of the last 5 magnums of red wine I've opened (over the course of the last year) 4 have been corked. On the bright side they're not taking up room anymore.
