TN: Bastille Day at Chateuneuf-du-Joe's

It was like bumping into a woman you had a brief, but intense fling with years ago, and seeing how youve both matured. This lady has matured nicely

Another good quote that leads to dangerous thoughts!

Sounds like an interesting selection. And no other views on the Wind Gap?

I've mentioned elsewhere, the Wind Gap is quite delicious. But it's definitely orange, and if you don't like orange, well....

You forgot to note a deliciously complex and aromatic bottle of NV L. Aubry Brut (disgorged April 2008).

Tell us about the cool grapes in it.

Yeah, Aubry uses "forgotten" varieties like arbanne, petit meslier, fromenteau, &c.

But it is still a yawn.
Nope, quite tasty.

Not that I know anything about Champagne.

Sure, it's fine. But not really all that interesting.

I have a down-regulated Leim/Bowman gene or something.

De gustibus... yet I'll snap, anywayYou guys are nuts. This is a beautiful wine. Everyone at the Bastille event was quite enthusiastic.

I think the retort to this is quite obvious.

It's fine, and I'll drink it if someone else is buying, but I wouldn't seek it out again. That's all.

To be fair, Theise does bring it in and I haven't had any Champagne from him that I would consider "bad" in any way, some are just boring. It's no Billiot to be sure.
