controversial. most folks disliked this vinous product.
summed up by a 10 year old male, who unprompted, smelled and hence proclaimed "horse manure'.

Ah, the ol' "Cordier funk" rears its... whatever. I opened a bottle of this last year, but enjoyed it greatly as I'm fairly Brett tolerant (after all, I love the wines of the Rhone Valley). My wife, though, also enjoyed it and is much more scatophobic than I am. My sympathies re your bottle, as this can be a really special wine.

One of my favorite Gruauds, along with the '61 and '00. Honorable mention to the '86.

I haven't yet touched my '86 G-L. Has your experience suggested that it's anywhere near ready to drink?

Mark, On more than one occasion I've seen this bottling knock the socks off of its peers and superiors in comparative tastings.

I have always enjoyed this wine.

Have had this wine twice in the last 6 months and have loved it. It is a special wine. The '86 consumed in the last 6 months was wonderful as well although the '82 outshone it.

Mark, were you wine tasting with your vegetarian friends again? I've got a couple of bottles of the 82 left out of almost a whole case and outside of one bottle that was corked each one has been delicious. Plus a yum, yum. Brad and I will gladly do you the favor of taking any more bottles of 82 GL off your hands. Let me know when I should stop by and pick them up?

So, just to clarify, Mark, your next trip here you're bringing the '88 Gentaz, '95 L'Aigueliere and '82 Gruaud, right?

82 Gruaud is one of the best wines I've ever had. I don't operate much at that level but it is really fine wine.

I brought this to an offline that Coad wrote up! At Anjou, I think. Not in Anjou, mind you. At. Which isn't some pretentious French preposition or pun thing, Thor. It was at Anjou. The restaurant that was in Chelsea. Or maybe still is? But anyway, it was brought. And it was good. Coad called it Rubenesque. I thought Kane was Ruben. Ruben called it unctuous. Fisticuffs and hilarity ensued. Those were the days!
