Breaking News: VLM is a bitter, carping gadfly!

Anthony Dias Blue has wine bloggers' number.

Enlightened Anthony Dias Blue editorial.

P.S. I am writing this in my pyjamas with a tear rolling down one cheek and a glass of Brun Beaujolais Blanc in my hand. I had to walk all the way to Astor Wines to purchase it, with my own money. And I stubbed my toe.

Ah, but how many glasses of Brun BB have you had today?

I hear things about bloggers.

Maybe the writer of this editorial will get a crumb thrown his way by someone in The Established Critical Media in exchange for defending The Established Critical Media?

It's like the back of the book blurb game - you blurb me, and I'll blurb you. Or like the blog game.

I drink on Greenwich Mean Time, as any self-respecting blogger would. (Hic!) Dunno how many glasses, but looks like I got two here in my hand right now.

Can I link to that?

Only if you post a link to my blog on your blog once I get a blog.

Mr Blue has outdone himself. Ad hominems, broad generalities and red herrings, all rolled into one smelly whole. And he never once confronts the central issue. Bravo, Mr. Blue! Well done.

The '07, Sharon? Just had a bottle last week while on vacation.

What did you think of it?

Since this is a fictionalized account of my daytime drinking, let's say it's an '06, which I like better than the '07. (Actually, had some '07 for the second time two nights ago and was slightly let down. But the bottle might have been a little off.)

Given current trends in journalism in the US, we'll soon be down to a "established critical media" that consists of two newspapers and 500,000 bloggers. It's hard to say if that's better or worse than the current state of affairs.

What Mark said. Since he doesn't address the substantive point, the writer's pretty much doing what he describes in bloggers. Or, as Brent suggests, he's trying to curry favor with a certain audience.

Pucker up Anthony!

(Wait, does that sound bitter?)

VLM certainly has a dreary day job.

Travelling to jeebuses around the world seems to be the day job. Count me in the bitter and resentful camp.

You wine bloggers are always outing people!

Shouldn't you be off letting your sense of personal failure take shape? It's not going to form on its own, you know.

He makes it sound like we are computer-age versions of Jack Torrance, using blogging to fill the time between murdering Scatman Crothers and freezing to death.

All wine and no play...

So if I hone my resentment and sense of personal failure, then I can be a wine blogger too?

A man's got to have goals for himself.

VLM is more a militant than a gadfly.

ADB is most likely pissed because his livelihood is in free fall. It's like Wile E Coyote realizing he's on the wrong side of solid ground. As the Roadrunner cartoons show us, the anger after only leads to greater and grander failure.

Beep beep.
