Grandma's Potato Salad:

Cook 5 lbs red potatoes (in skin)

while cooling;

Chop 2 medium onions

Add to Hellman's Mayonnaise mix:

Chop or cut fine and add to mayonnaise, mixing after each addition

7-8 hard boiled eggs

5-6 stalks of celery

1/2 small package (small) radishes

3 big dill pickles

1 Small jar green olives with pimentos

I used about 2 cups of mayonnaise and I peeled the potatoes first. Peeling the potatoes is not mandatory, merely preference.

The key is to dice everything so small that you get a little of everything in each mouthful.

Gets better with a couple days in the fridge.
I know there’s many potato salad recipes but this one has been in my family for 100 years.

Pete,
The funny thing is that I don’t cook. Diane and I have been together 46 years and I have made dinner less times than you have fingers. But I love to eat and I do pay attention.

I find celery kinda harmless, but there are a fair number of people for whom it is incredibly polarizing. I once stumbled across the website of a Scottish chef and he was on an absolute rampage against celery.

Whereas I have happily eaten celery ice cream and celery sorbet.

Never had those. I detest celery soda, even in a deli. I find actual celery harmless either cooked or raw.
