There's a very funny clip of William Shatner reading Sara Palin's twitters (tweets?) as poetry on NBC's/Conan's night show. I saw it on the Salon site, but it might be elsewhere, too.

Yes, what's even more astonishing is that she actually said those words in that order.
He started reading her tweets the night after.originally posted by Jeff Grossman:

Yes, truly astonishing. I think of the speech as an attempt to lay claim to being head of the Know-Nothing Party for the 21st Century. It's hard to imagine someone topping her efforts.

So, I'm going to contradict what I originally said just a bit. It's true that she has set new lows for grammar and coherence in public discourse, although I think that given the direction that popular discourse has taken, someone was bound to take that step sooner or later, and Sarah just showed up at the right time.
On the other hand, if you accept that all politicians speak in code when addressing their base, her speech makes a moderate amount of sense. What she's saying to Alaskans is:
1. The lower 49 is going to shit;
2. We have the natural resources to ride this one out, but only if we can keep Washington's grubby socialist fingers off of them;
3. I will sacrifice myself on the national stage to make this happen and thereby protect Alaska.
It's really quite touching.
Sounds like a pretty convincing argument to me. Too bad about the weather up there.What she's saying to Alaskans is:

Actually, if you follow Brad Liljequist, Alaska is the only state that will still be habitable by the time our 2005 Burgundies come around. So she may be onto something.
Ha! That is on my iPod as well along with his "Put a Little Love in Your Heart". Ya, it's sad.originally posted by Ian Fitzsimmons:

Okay, I had to look .... it beats Leonard Nimoy singing the ballad of Bilbo Baggins, any event.
