Any comments on Defaix Chablis?

Not a domaine that I know. I have my eye on some '07 Cote de Lechet (but not the Cote de Lechet VV which I understand sees a bit more wood), and some of the Chablis VV. My palate prefers mineral driven, low or no oak Chablis. Any comments would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
 
i like the wines. not aware of any oak exposure, but have never seen the lechet vv. they have a chablis vv which i do not believe sees oak. stylistically the wines have great minerality, but i recall more fruit that one would generally find in top quality chablis.

Fwiw, I've had a work with with Helene Defaix and she's a sweetheart. I believe the oak barrels are pretty neutral except for the Lechet Reserve, which I think see around 10% new wood.
 
Yeah, the Chablis VV is something special.
I know nothing of the Lechet VV, but generally speaking, I put this house above average - and in 2007, that should be fine indeed.

There are a few Defaix: Bernard, Daniel-Etienne, Sylvan, and Jean (at least). The first three make a Lechet 1er. Rosenthal imports Daniel-Etienne - a point in its favor, in my mind.

We've had the Bernard 05 Lys twice: the first time it was subdued, but suggesting of interesting things to come, possibly. The second time it was shut down.

so true. i assumed we were talking about daniel-etienne...
 
I should have been more clear; I was asking about Bernard Defaix. I had my eye on some '07 Cote de Lechet, which was well-reviewed by Burghound. But a retailer panned it. Normally, I don't trust retailers' opinions, as they are self-interested, but here was a retailer who sells this very wine and thoroughly trashed it.
 
I was assuming and hoping that there isn't an Otto Defaix and that this was just Jeff's contribution to better thread drift. If there is, his name's too good to be true.

I remember a long ago thread on Soylent Green, on another board, that led to this topic. I personally think people should not hazard wine combinations for food they haven't tasted themselves, preferably cooked various different ways, so I myself abstain. I would be happy to hear from anyone with actual experience in such combinations, though.
 
Has anyone ever made it through Elias Canetti's novel?

I have tried several times, never with success.

Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn't try again.

Maybe someone could advise?
