Any comments on Defaix Chablis?

Has anyone ever made it through Elias Canetti's novel?

I have tried several times, never with success.

Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn't try again.

Maybe someone could advise?

OK, I'm a big supporter of thread drift as a way of keeping things interesting. But I thought the rule was that there had to be some transition, however capricious, to introduce the new topic. How did we get here?

Uh, the name of the Canetti's novel being Auto-da-Fe?

I think that that is probably the answer.

Otto Defaix jeebus? Although I don't see chablis pairing well with that kind of meat.

Custom has it that manflesh tastes like chicken. You can do properly prepared poultry with good chablis. So this seems like a live option.

Yes, this makes perfect sense to me. I like the modesty of "I think" as well. Forgive my ignorance of Canetti's oeuvre.

Really? I'd always heard pork, which made sense to me given the hematologic congruencies and all.
