Thunder Mountain Santa Cruz Mountains Beauregard Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 1995

It's certainly no Overnoy Vin Jaune (what is?) but this 14 year old wine surely hit the spot tonight as an accompaniment to boneless barbecued pork ribs on the deck overlooking Narragansett Bay. The cork looked pristine when I took the foil off, but disintegrated halfway through like Red Sox relief pitching in the new Yankee Stadium. I was ready to line up a cork rant but decanted through a makeshift filter into a suitable vessel (our Braun glass coffee carafe). Very expressive nose exudes from this dark wine that has shed all its tannins, is well integrated, complex, and sang of its place for the three hours it took us to finish the bottle off. The last glass was better than the first. What a contrast to the last bottle I had of this about 6 years ago - all anger and tannin and unyielding. Refreshing!

Milan Maximovich didn't always succeed with his wines but he definitely hit this one out of the park. He always said this one would take time to come around and as usual he was right.

I must be getting old. I thought this was a thread about the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. All these abbreviations are causing brain leak.
