NV Pinon Touraine Rose

Nice soft bubbles, some attractive bitterness. A bit light compared with the previous release to hit our shores but with air an attractive orange note emerges. Less serious than the last release (at least this bottle at this time) but still quite pleasurable. Zalto Champagne glass. Excellent match with Grand Sichuan's smoked tea duck.

You are a model of on-line civility, Jay, and you seem to eat a lot of this tea duck. Hmmm ..... concidence?

What finally reconciled me to living in Jersey City is that Grand Sichuan opened a branch here in Jersey City.

Unlike the Chelsea branch (which I frequented after the 9th & 50th St. branch closed) there's never a wait, it's quiet, there's $0 corkage and, as with all the other branches, the smoked tea duck is an incredibly wine friendly dish.

I can just pack up a book, a bottle and a glass, walk over, and have a fantastic dinner.

Now if I could just convince the New York folk that this makes it worth a trip on the PATH train...

Yes, but the shredded chicken with capsicum and the pork broth dumplings aren't quite on the level of the Chelsea GS. That said still very nice (ate there before flying out of Newark some time ago), will definitely be heading back when I'm next in NJ.

The pork and crabmeat soup dumplings are much better than the pork soup dumplings (which I agree are only soso there). If you're not drinking wine I highly recommend the Gui Zhou Spicy Chicken. That stuff is addictive.

Let me know if you'll be passing through there again, I'd be happy to meet if I'm free.

I just ran a search on Culpeper, Virginia, and tea duck. Nothin' doin'. Does the recipe require skills beyond what a 3rd grader can manage?

For the life of me, I don't understand the fascination with this wine. I just drank a Pinon Petilland from 2006 today. Now that was good!

Please let me know if it will be all right for me to enjoy the Peillot Montagnieu. I have that on dock as next sparkler to open.

The wine from 2 vintages ago I totally grooved on.

The latest, I'm not so sure.
