Allemand is probably my favorite producer of Cornas, but when I think of soulful Cornas I'd go with Verset.

I'd say that's a pretty good summation of my feelings, too.

Sharon, what don't you get about Verset? Have you had '85 or '88? (or '90 or '91, for that matter).

Allemand isn't in my wheel house, price-wise, so alas, I pass those wines by.

Thanks Jim - Cornas with a Burgundian soul indeed. I drank my last bottle (a '97 SC) a while back and wish I could find more.

I had an astonishly good glass of Emidio Pepe's 2001 montepulciano the other night. That was soul in a glass.

we had another good showing of the Emidio Pepe's 1975 montepulciano last week...what a neat and interesting old wine

Guess it's time for Levi and Slaton to set up East and West Soul Jeebi.

I've been preferring Vestini Campagnano to Allemand lately, so I might be the wrong guy for a Rhone Soul Revival.

I did have some Bonneau last evening that was exceptional, though.

Henri or du Martray?

I just found the couple of examples I've had to be on the boring-ish side of the spectrum.

Not have had any of those vintages, though. Only mid-'90s ones.
