2006 Marcel Lapierre Morgon, $30...intially earthy with some underbrush notes..some muted fruit but then it closed down hard in the glass over about 20 minutes...seems to be "unhappy" at this moment in time...bummer

This is close to what I felt when I opened one last week. Mine didn't seem to close down per se, but was quite muted in total the whole time. Not sure what to make of it as its been the only Lapierre '06 I've had and I question the storage of the place in Milwaukee I bought it from. Maybe it'll open up in the future? Maybe muted is just the way it is.

I posted a note on this wine last week, together with 06 Coudert Roilette. We thought it opened nicely on night two, though probably still not to full potential. On the other hand, we paid only $20, so our expectations may have been lower.

Just got some '07 for $18...looking forward to that...for consolation I opened a "non-vintage" JP Brun l'Ancien Terres D'orees (from '07)...quite good..

We also had the L'Ancien from Brun a few weeks ago. I thought it was the 07, but it might have been the 06. Are they all NV now? It was our first time drinking this wine, which is practically a legend here, and it was easy to see what the fuss is about.

I believe it was only the '07 that got declassified for being "non-typique" which is a total joke considering the "typical" wines made by those such as Geo. DeBoeuf...
