Join Us In The First Anniversary Online Jeebus

The Politburo is mildly amused to announce that we have approved a request from the People's Committee for Spontaneous Celebrations, and there will be a One Year Anniversary Online Jeebus commemorating the altogether surprising fact that Wine Disorder exists one year after its creation.

All disorderlies are hereby strongly encouraged to drink some wine and post about it. There will be an official jeebus thread on the Jeebus Board. (And if you don't like official threads, you can post wherever the fuck you feel like posting.)

The anniversary jeebus thread will open tonight at midnight Arbois, France time, and the thread will stay open until, well, whenever.

Anyone twittering about this jeebus will be banned.

Firearms are prohibited.

All hail the People's Committee for Spontaneous Celebrations!

I will attend, though I may be one of the last to show.

You may be in a Crif dog coma.

We in the rising sun world will have consumed sumptuously pristine poulsards and such. But: it's all good, as say the Amerloques.

As it generally happens that I do drink wine on Monday evenings, I will manage to post on it in observance, much as I detest writing tasting notes.

I'm in.

I love Wine Disorder and am thankful to the beneficent politburo for giving me a home, even if it is a dank flat that I share with my extended family.

2000 Tyrell's Vat 1 Semillon. Still too tight from all the added acid.
A nice one, Yixin. I've forwarded it to James Halliday, who wholeheartedly agrees.

My own contribution: PF 2007 Viedos y Bodegas Ponce, DO Manchuela, 100% bobal. My young friend Juan Antonio Ponce proves that you can make WD-proof wine in purple country - 100% biodynamic, open-top vinification, aged in old oak, several sized, no racking. Nice chalky funkiness, a lot of plums and cherries behind it, very umami and fruity on the tongue, with bobal's fearful tannins pretty well mastered (no excess of maceration here). Delightul, fresh wine, and with a future ahead too.

I celebrated in style. I burned a book, wrote a horrific poem, cursed the capitalist pig, sang a song for the international proletariat, and cooked and ate three pieces of bacon. Then I drank a 97 Pepiere for the odd botrytis kick. I'm now in an undisclosed location for fear of retribution.

Retribution? Those all sound like qualifications for you to become the Chief Justice of the Politboro!

-Eden (however much justice is meted out by the Politboro)

So I had some '96 Chidaine Almendra at dinner, and also with friends a couple of days before. I've had some discussion recently with friends about RD sparkling wines and how they age after disgorgement. The Almendra, as you will recall, was 10 years on the lees before disgorgement and sale.

Everyone knows that chenin blanc is a better grape that chardonnay and that other stuff they make Champagne from, but still, the wine was fabulous--fresh, bright, leesy, just excellent.

I was ambushed at a bar later by the sweet proprietors of the Sardinian restaurant, and was compelled to buy a bottle of '81 Tondonia blanco just to be sure that I had a tough time making my 07:30 meeting the next day. It was worth the pain, in a grand place with plenty of room to run.

I hope you all enjoy either wine if it comes your way.
