Not pictured: 88 Verset, 97 Foillard, 95 Trevallon, 04 Chidaine Clos de Breuil, 97 Sav Chamboreau RaM, 02 Sav Coulaine, 95 du Tertre.
VdV: 97 Foillard, for both of us, without even thinking about it.
Comments as follows:
The 88 Verset was flawed by brett. Nothing like the last one.
The Foillard was gorgeous, a point, meat and geranium top note. It is interesting to note to overwhelming positive vibe for them amongst this gang.
The Trevallons have been really fun. A very solid wine.
The 04 Chidaine - a dry botrytized wine. With clafoutis, it actually worked. Very interesting wine.
The 02 Coulaine was a great bottle, a nod to the old school, but a little modern.
The Domaine St. Anne continues to be my favorite CdRhone - a lovely, lovely old school wine, always soothing.
The Closel opened up with a lot of old regal majesty. Made me feel like I was back in some clunky old Loire chateau in the 50s.
I know the 04 L d'Or is not typique, but I love it - it may be my favorite Muscadet ever. But I am not deeply experienced.
The Nicolas was a nice Muscadet.
The Coche was nice and very CdB, but a little oaky. Not over the hill as suggested by John Gilman.
The Fuisse was piney and quaternary.
The Chanrion - what a lovely old rose, wild in an abandoned English garden.
The Janasse - our last of a case, just starting to lose its distinctiveness and sliding into old CnP generica.
The Cotat - need time to open, uber Chavignol.
And here, tonight, getting ready for work tomorrow, an 08 Chermette Beaujolais VV Primeur - just ok.
