TN: WD 1st Anniversary: Touraine Cabernet

2007 La gautrie, Touraine Cabernet, Christian Venier is too hipster even for me. Winemaking trumps terrior and grape with this one. That said, it is brutally honest, cloudy, light and silky red wine with a lovely finish. Wish I had come across this in the spring.

I've never heard of Christian Venier.

I am still on the lookout for Desmoulins CR but haven't been able to track any down.

He's Thierry Puzelat's first cousin and a very nice guy. Not yet working in Bio but probably will soon.

Has crazy hair style and his wines are good.

Honest in the sense that the winemaking is clear? In that case how could a wine be dishonest? (This seems to be an unconventional way of describing wine as 'honest').

Joe, that makes sense as my first thought was hey, this tastes just like the Puzelat pinot noir I had last year. Which is my only gripe with the wine. It's lovely and all but I couldn't in a million years recognize it as a cabernet. My non-geek dinner companion also thought it was pinot noir.

Rahsaan, it's too early in the morning.

Sorry, I'm in bed by 10.

Now it's too early again and I'm busy all day. The weekends out because I have work. Can we set something up for Monday afternoon?

Are we talking Dageneau crazy hair or merely Pacalet crazy hair style?

My interest in the wine falls in the balance.

I'm pretty partial to Didier Barrouillet's hair stylings as well. If that gives you an idea of my taste in vigneron haircuts.
