Datapoint: Domaine Diochin Moulin--Vent 1990

We had a party with neighbors in Poil Bleu the other night and drank this wine.

It had aged beautifully and was in the perfect mid-point of still being lively while taking on an older pinot-like character.

I'm not sure what would be gained by aging the wine anymore.

Drink up your bottles!

Is Poil Bleu slightly less well done than Poil Rouge?

I drank the 1989 with Brad and a few other folks when he was in town earlier this year. I found it quite charming, if perhaps slightly past peak. It was alas thoroughly overshadowed by a beautiful, if far too young '99 Juge Cuvee SC (thanks Frank).

Larry Stein was also in attendance.

I'll be posting notes in mid 2010.

whoa!, dude! What's your hurry?

Slaton, not so sure about the slightly over-the-hill assessment. The last pour was fresher tasting than the previous ones. I believe that wine was starting to blossom, but alas, the bottle was drained.

Every wine we had that night was best at the end of the bottle.

Yes, the Juge totally rocked and the '93 Clos des Cortons, Faiveley was an excellent drink, too.

Agree on its evolution, but at least in monkey terms I wonder if this bottle wasn't even better a couple three years ago. Purely academic at this point, though; I recall all being quite pleased with it (except for Brad, of course).

Got a '96...sounds like it should show very well...thanks for the update...

from the use of the term "data-point(s)".

It is a nonsense term that has no place on a wine bored of this caliber. Take it to Berzerkers.
