Anyone with news on the 2nd release of '02 Huet Petillant - now with bonus tasting note

2002 is crazy good. I don't know how many bottles I blew through in New York. (Aside from one, too blowsy, picked up in a store of dubious temperature.)

We should be getting a delivery of 02 tomorrow, so happy to read this. I think we'll wait till our son's birthday in February to open one, since he is also 02 vintage.

Then again, maybe we'll have one sooner.

I too had one of those kinds of bottles, from one of those kinds of places.
Fortunately I bought all subsequent bottles from that SoMa place.

The consensus of my champagne expert buddies (in addition to Ms Bowman) is that RD champagnes need to be drunk quickly after disgorgement.

My experience with Vouvray fizz from '34 or '37 has been exceptional, and I understand those to have been postwar disgorgements.

So maybe chenin is different?

I wouldn't say that chenin is different; more that that's not RD, if by postwar, you mean the '40s.

I don't understand--if we wait long enough for the RD Champagnes, they'll come around?

Drat these long commercial breaks.
Thank you all for staying tuned.

In recent developments, there is a high possibility that the house will use the 2008 Le Mont demi-sec for the dose on the reserve 2002. They are very proud of that wine, and feel that the demi-sec will be more transparent for the longer aged sparkler than the 2002 Le Mont 1er Trie that was used for the first batch.

The new release is expected to come in near the ~10g/L rs found in the first.

And now over to Professor Dalton for the anfora news. Levi?

The forecast calls for heavy anfora storms over the Eastern Seaboard early Thursday evening, followed by scattered orange showers.

It will be a good day to pack an umbrella, and also a wineglass.

'01 Huet fizz reached the US after the first '02 release. And seems to be the vintage currently in stores here.
The second release of the 2002 is just sneaking in now.

Were there any TNs on this? I searched above and could not find anything...

Just noticed four cases of '02 Petillant at Chambers, I assume this is too soon to be the 2nd release and it's more of the first?

They have a call into the importer to determine if it's the same wine as the Reserve available in France. It will probably be several days before they hear.

Oh good. Hopefully the answer will be revealed before I return to the NYC area. Not that it would hurt to have more of the first release. It occurs to me that my strategy of opening one bottle a year is going to finish my stock off long before they approach maturity.

Anybody ever hear of the Pluckemin Inn Wine Shop in Bedminster, NJ?

Brad, they have the '21 on their website.
I had lunch at Union Square Cafe recently. A '21 sighting on the list for a mere $900. This is probably their cost.
