Cru closed for renovations

Sad to see in Eric Asimov's blog. I didn't always think the food was very wine-friendly, and they raised wine prices pretty severely at badly timed moments, but there was still some great stuff on that list and Mo always gave a warm welcome.

Asimiov also mentions the Koch suit against Kurniawan. I'm trying to figure out how to upload a pdf of the complaint to share, it's a page turner.

Damn, they sure could modify the website to mention that the chef had left and that they've closed.

Although Eater says they're taking resumes for a reopening.

And another thing....

ETA: As discussed below, Cru is open. Don't want to mislead the casual lurker.

Add ".jpg" to the end of the filename. The WD picture repository will accept it that way, and we can remove ".jpg" when we download it.

All hail the Politburo's great and glorious plan to restrain us from wayward and undisciplined uploads!

Huh. good thing I'm not a tech guy. How about I email it to you and you can give it a whirl?

I promise it's worth it--some very fine reading.

OpenCru is open. They did close for a period of time during the summer.
Huh. I was there just a couple of weeks ago, and it was sadly quiet.

And this is on Craigslist:

I have not verified but I recently read this:

And I overheard some people talking about Cru reopening last night at the Pascal Barbot dinner at Ko.

OpenTable also shows they are open.

...to which SFJoe refers is now here.

You must dance the Politburo Minuet to read it:

Click on the link and download the file to your computer. Then, remove the letters ".jpg" from the end of the file name. What is left should be named "RudyLawsuit.pdf" and it should open in your local PDF reader.

You are the internet maestro. It is thanks to you that I post links to open in a new window.

(Amusing typo: winedow. I guess my fingers think they know where they're going when the word starts with "win"....)

Thank you, Jeff. Nice to know that you didn't waste all that time in school.

That was pretty interesting. I don't usually follow all the hullabaloo around these auction/fake wine scandals but there seem to be some colorful characters involved. Maybe we could get them to post here if we discuss different wines.

But that Koch is certainly irritated!

That's certainly juicy stuff. Thanks.

The loans from Acker to Rudy are what really make this stink. Is that sort of thing common for "important" clients?

There's a lot of things in there that seemed off the wall, but definitely made for good reading.

I think that's where the questions of market manipulation might arise. It seems highly unusual, but maybe I just don't run in the right circles.

Will have to ask .sasha.

Reads to me like the whole Kapon cabal is dirty.

FWIW, I bought wine from an Acker auction that turned out to have been from Chrish Peel of CWC.
