CSW down?

Just pre-empting philosophically self-dialoguing posts (who says SFJoe is not the Diderot of Wine Disorder?).

Isn't the CSW website often down?

I was over there yesterday (to buy some Tunnel 06 SJ, doncha know).

Their internet is down. Verizon has ancient infrastructure over there; they've said this is going to happen a lot.

Jesus. How maddening.

Between Verizon on the ground and AT&T on the cell you might as well be in a cave somewhere.

On account of iphones sending pictures starting next week??

If the experiences of some friends is any indication, there may be a sharp drop in AT&T bandwidth usage now: both of these people installed the latest service pack for their iPhones, only to have it render the iPhones totally inoperable. No function, no reboot, no hardware reset -- nada zip zilch. Apple's suggestion: keep trying to reboot (uh huh). Had it not been for a frenzied search on the Web in the wee hours of this morning that turned up some crucial advice from a blogger, their iPhones would still be, as one put it, high tech bricks. Something makes me think that not everyone will be as determined to remedy the problem (one friend is leaving the US for two weeks tomorrow and so was rather adamant about restoring function).

I can't say anymore. Just let me know if you think it gets better, and if it does, open a bottle of bubbles for me.

It's insane. Presumably, nothing will really change until Verizon installs a new point-of-presence for FIOS in the street. Presumably, also, they're not lowering their rates. Would drive me berserk.

The technological infrastructure in this country is a fucking joke. It really is embarrassing.

How about cash for shitty outdated internets?

Oh, enough of you guys and your "a wink is as good as a nod, say no more, say no more" crapola.

You sound like stock analysts.

Luddites such as myself have no idea what you're talking about. I feel secure in my own lack of knowledge. My God! I'm a closet Republican.
