CSW down?

Go to broadband.gov for starters. Sheesh. You're beginning to sound like Coad.

From the page:

The Broadband Initiatives funded in the Act are intended to accelerate broadband deployment in unserved, underserved, and rural areas and to strategic institutions that are likely to create jobs or provide significant public benefits.

That doesn't do me any fucking good.

When you look at what is available in broadband internet and wireless in countries like Japan and Korea, this initiative is a joke.

The Initiative is just the start. The fact is that the telcos and cable cos haven't met their obligations in previous bills that gave them various concessions in exchange for increasing broadband speeds and access. There's little doubt that this FCC will finally start enforcing these laws with the threat of deep fines for non-compliance.

Understatement of the year. Willful negligence or just outright stealing.

I sure hope so.

The only company I hate more than Verizon is Time-Warner.

Chase Bank gives them both a solid run.

Given my experiences with Chase Bank and Verizon I guess I should avoid Time-Warner.

Amazing levels of incompetence and customer torture.

Texas being such a great state and standing up for the rights of the individual against big corporations, those of us residing at least temporarily in Austin find we have lots of choices for cable:

Time-Warner Basic
Time-Warner COBOL
Time-Warner Fortran
Time-Warner C++
Time-Warner Java

They are each progressively more expensive, with the Basic version starting at your 1st born male child, and the last costing you an arm & a leg. Service is, of course, legendary. Each class of service has its corresponding service representatives; each phone call for help results in the humorous mis-information Olympics.

Can't wait to move back to Connecticut, where we have the enlightened policies of Cablevision.

um, ever hear of Direct TV? no need to leave the beauty of austin for connecticut - just look to the sky.

BTW - the simplest answer for SFJoe's original question is that M. Lillie saw the caller ID and just couldn't face one more chenin blanc debate at that precise moment. Or if it was the Lobo minding the shop, he took as a cue to put together an order for which he needed no instruction.

Sky is great, but internet access is a bitch.
