Fall 2009 Hiatus

It's a nice time of year for a hiatus, don't you think?

Who's going where?

--

I'll start: I am going to Prague, Budapest, and Vienna, starting next week and staying 2.5 weeks. Can anyone recommend good wine shops and/or wine-friendly restaurants? Jeebus??

I'll be all over, but the biggest one is Paris for AIDS Vaccine 2009 (even if Joe and Mark think it is a pipe dream).

The Hiatus I'm most looking forward to is Thor's.

Family weekend at URI and annual apple picking picnic in the Hudson Valley. This is the best time of the year to stay local. Local being East Coast for me.

I don't have any specific recommendations and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there with better knowledge. But we had some very fun meals in Pest last summer, particularly in the neighborhood around the Opera. There seemed to be lots of energy among creative chefs who could try different quirky things. And the prices were very nice.

Of course there are plenty of overpriced dull and monotonous touristy places all over the city, but that happens everywhere.

Thank you, Rahsaan.

Certainly, the foodie sites can provide me lots of resto names, but I'd like to hear people's experiences.

(I have a recommendation for a wine shop in Budapest, and another couple in Vienna. I don't know any great Czech wines to seek out.)

Actually: Larrau, Haro, Bilbao, San Sebastian, Biarritz, Onzain, Paris. But I'll be wired, and thus able to torture Nathan the entire time.
