Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou Saint Julien '86 --
Dark red.
Medium blackberry/raspberry scents, good cigar box, cassis, forward bouquet, some minerals.
Solid core of dark fruits, still firm/resilient tannins but in balance, perhaps a bit sleek, holding together well, dry earth (?).
Moderate length finish. [92]

Served with Pan-fried Veal Liver, Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Sauteed Spinach...

Ch Ducru-Beaucaillou '86 -- Dark, classic Claret aromas, dark fruits, still firm tannins, classic profile, nice flavorful fullness, all in balance, medium-length finish, at or near peak. [E]

Time-honored pairing with rack of (New Zealand) lamb and roasted squash.
