1996 Montevertine Riserva
Gorgeous explosive nose on opening, started shutting down pretty quickly. A little light on the palate but over the course of the next 3.5 hours it continued developing depth and complexity. Fully resolved, soft flavors. From the taste I'd say it was a beautiful softly mature wine but the way it developed implies more time may benefit? I think I have one more so maybe I'll wait and see. But it's in a very nice place right now for anyone who does not demand power from their wines.
2001 Muller Catoir Haardter Burgergarten Spatlese 2134
corked!
There were some other good wines but I left my pen home so I can't really comment other than to say that post-Hans Gunter scheurebe from Muller Catoir IMO isn't nearly as good as the ones he made.
