Is his complaint about the Cornas being inky about its color or is inky a descriptor for taste or smell? Cuz Cornas is supposed to be kind of opaque. Inky is good.

Apparently...according to wiki in 2005 they were bought out by New Times Media, a "Phoenix alternative weekly chain".

His blind spot this time isn't "auslese," it's this:  "Among them were things that I--trained as a chemist at the University of Texas--couldn't quite figure out, such as taurine, menadione sodium bisulfite complex, pyridoxine hydrochloride, and biotin..."

I, too, was trained as a chemist, but I went to schools where some of my courses happened to mention common vitamins like pyridoxine and biotin.  Sheee-it, we even talked about what they did biochemically.  Go figure.

Anyhow, I suppose this is a bit beside the point of how the cat food tastes.

And I'm fairly sure that it's also there that I learned that taurine was an essential amino acid for cats that had to be supplemented into their diet. Why it's needed in Red Bull is another question, but since they fund a nifty junket amino acids conference in Vienna I am not inclined to question too deeply.

wow, a food reviewer who has never heard "Florentine" used to refer to a dish with spinach. I suppose it comes as no surprise that he's reduced to reviewing cat food.
 
I hope this means next we get to see a Bruni article on cat food. Our cats have been quite picky lately and we could really use some Times-level recommendations.
