What is going on Thursday evening, Oct. 29th?

I did forget to mention about the translator. Mr. Vodopivec employed a Georgian/Italian translator and guide to help him with introductions and government documents and such. How many of these sorts of people do you think there are out there, these translator folks? Someone who can help an eager Italian through the byways of regional Georgia?

That's right! There is just one, uno, singular!

I expressed surprise at this, as the countries are close to one another. "After all," shrugged Mr. Vodopivec "it is a very small place we are talking about."

I'm not sure, but I'll tell you, Mr. Vodopivec arrived for our meeting and by why of breaking the ice I asked him about his horticulture business. Joe Salamone had met with the brothers in the past, and had tipped me off that they had a side concern. So I asked about the horticulture side of things, which totally failed to translate and we ended up verbally stumbling around for a bit as I asked if he grew vegetables, salad, etc. and then finally Mr. Vodopivec burst out "Ah! Flowers! I grow flowers!" And to be honest I think he was mildly scandalized by my suggestion that he grew vegetables.

It is probably a class thing. The poorer folks probably grow their own vegetables. They probably haven't heard of Alice Waters in Carso.
