Glad that Joe picked up Roally

Right in the neighborhood...seems like a good fit!

I've always liked these fairly unique wines. We visited back in I think 03 and really enjoyed their Vire Clesse boosterism...a nice little regional corner. And they put out the goods.

And the 07 is another gem. Pears and lemon, a nice northern Macon, with that touch of weight. Super delineation and articulation, and that touch of RS which powers through and makes this a great aperitif. Clearly they're bringing the old Roally domaine along.

Good stuff!

How does it look on this list?

Note: this is spam, as is everything I post. And I'm more desperate than usual. I could not get anyone to buy a glass of 2007 Gavi Filagnotti tonight. All they wanted was Santa Margherita.

Also, who is this "Joe"? Do you mean Joe Dressner? I wonder if he picked up the domaine or if the domaine picked up him.

It looks great there. Great choice! If I were there, I would order it!

I suspect there was some mutuality in the decision.

A colleague was headed out last night in the exurbs. We were early for a meeting so we went to Taco Bell next door (where you can't get coffee, curiously, only iced tea). I shook my fist at Mark Ellenbogen, who surely must have inspired such a restrictive beverage policy, and we took a look online at the wine list for the restaurant that my pal's dinner companion had in mind. The list separated whites into:

Pinot Grigo
Chardonnay
Other whites.

I said, "Buddy, you're in for it."
