What red wine with mushroom risotto

cool place to have a dinner like this!

and Putnam, you know how to photograph food man (the food itself looks very nicely put together, i know, and that helps, but still, your lighting and the low angle are nice...as is the narrow focal length...very painterly).

thanks for the pairing notes above too.

Putnam, the city of Detroit is paying you dollars, yes?

You are the greatest ambassador for that town I have ever encountered. Every time you document one of these evenings in D-Town, it all seems so much more interesting than, say, the East Village.

Vandergrift?

Vandergrift a successful pairing for tiny woodsy mushrooms?

Languedoc? Pic St Loup? Looks like a big hunk of red meat underneath.

Indeed, it was. And you're right on the first guess. A 2001 Grange des Pres VdP de l'Hrault brought the blood and the mud, and was a lovely creature.

Marasmius oreades and....

Cornas?

And yes. You're racking up the points, left and right, here. A 2001 Allemand Cornas Reynard finished the deal sweetly.

I love this picture.

Speaking of Albert Kahn, this, on the outskirts of Paris, is worth a visit.
