2005 Bernard Baudry Chinon La Croix Boisse, alc 14%, $29....open now for about an hour...a little violet on the nose...gentle and smooth on the palate but not showing much....the tannins really kick in after about 8 seconds....way to early (at least for this bottle)

Not surprised as this is a pretty structured wine in any vintage. I don't think there's a vintage younger than the '03 that is reliably approachable currently.

Thanks for taking one for the team though, doc.

If you have to drink a 2005 from Baudry now, I think the Clos Guillot is the one to open.
Based on a bottle shared a year ago with a certain Rioja exports manager, I'd have no problem agreeing with this statement.

I'm drinking the 07 Clos Guillot right now! It's young, yes, but all sorts of delicious. Raspberries, cranberries and rocks on the nose, slate and minerals all over the palate, and a great acidity through the finish. There are some green hints to show the vintage, but overall a great drink.

While I'm apt to stash some 07, I think of this as a short-term vintage. I need something to drink while the 05's and 06' gestate.
