Verset Cornas 2006

I recently came across this in the local distributors catalogue and was confused. I had thought the last Verset vintages were 2000 or 2001? I know Clape and Allemand are now working much of his old vinyards...but he must have held onto some? Has anyone tried this and is it a buy at $50-60? Same depth and longevity we've grown to love from this producer?

I have some, but haven't tried it.

A '97 this week was awfully persuasive. Not the same, of course, but would encourage you to take a flyer.
 
i had it back soon after it arrived in america. blind. if my life had depended on identifying the wine it would have been a terminal experience.

i don't recall any real specifics, but it was light in colour, flavour, body, and far, far from what a verest cornas would have been a decade ago. unrecognisable as verset or as cornas.

sad to see noel go out like this.
