So this 6 year old says to his 5 year old brother, "its about time we started cussing." And the 5 year old agrees so they decide that when Mom asks them what they want for breakfast, the older will use the word hell and the younger the word damn.
Mom asks 6 year old what he wants for breakfast and he says, "oh hell, Mom, I'll just have Cheerios."
Mom immediately swats him and beats his butt all the way up to his room.
When she comes back downstairs, she asks in the 5 year old what he wants.
He says, "I don't know but it certainly won't be those damn Cheerios."

Fuck the apocalypse.

So, Jim, A post is in the works but for background, a friend of mine forced some naturals on James Suckling, i get an email from Anthony, holy shit, he loved them. Well, he wasn't crazy about Puzelat but he was all over Overnoy and Richaud? And was like---these are great. So fresh. So new. You mean, it's not longer the domaine of crazy hippies?

And so he posts that on Twitter.

And we're all trying to figure out why we feel dread.
 
I just want to put in a few words for the original meaning of apocalypse, which is "revelation." Things got muddied with the publication of the Apocalypse of St. John (also known, revealingly, as the Book of Revelations) and the popular assumption that the word "apocalypse" referred to the horrific events described therein (me, I think that ol' Johnny got some bad 'shrooms the day he penned that tract, cf. PKD's ideas about Christian origins). Time to return to semantic clarity.

The good shrooms (muscaria) in those days are widely regarded as bad these days.

My nightmares about the Apocalypse all come from the tapestries in Angers.

Heh. I picked up Valis at Shakespeare & Co in Paris during a summer spent bumming around Europe in '83. There's nothing like reading a good paranoid vision while bunking down in an Amsterdam Youth Hostel.

Could it be that Suckling's opinion of Thierry & Jean-Marie's wines has something with their being unable to provide him with choice digs to rent while writes his reviews?

Someone willingly gave Overnoy to a guy employed by Wine Spectator. That's a capital offense, even if the Japanese already snag the production.
