The Francophile Pie Franco dinner will be Wednesday, the 17th of Feb.
I apologize to anyone who can't make it on that date. I will find some other way of making it up to you.
We will keep it small, so that a bottle or two of a wine can make it around the room.
We will serve you a bunch of food.
We will encourage you to bring a bottle of Pie Franco to share with other people by charging you a whole lot more to come if you dine bottleless. If you bring a bottle, $95/head. No bottle, $150/same number of heads (1).
We will open a bunch of Pie Franco from Southern Italy. Please direct your attentions to bringing items not from Southern Italy. Personally, I would be excited if people brought along the instructional offering. Like, here is the same producer, same grape type, nearby vineyards, same vintage, one ungrafted vines bottle, one grafted vines bottle. Or here are multiple examples of the same ungrafted vine vino from different years. Then people can really wrap their mind around things. Also, it is with advanced vine age that the Pie Franco really shows through in the finished wine, me thinks. So with that in mind, it would be nice if folks brought old-vine Pie Franco rather than young ungrafted vine juice. But whatever you want to bring is cool with me. I like to try Pie. You like to try Pie, so it's all good.
In the efforts of making the event run smoothly, with accurate notes and such, it would be nice if you dropped off your bottle contribution(s) at a date ahead of the event. Then I can type up pretty and helpful notes for you.
It will be the last wine dinner for me at the 'viv, as I am switching venues in March.
212-599-5045 during business hours EST to reserve. Please do reserve, so we can plan things on this side.
I'll post up a menu soon.
Everyone is over Cornelissen, yadda, yadda, but there will be plenty of Magma to go around.
7:30pm Francophile start time.
Trust me it will be fun.
