Larry Stein

Larry Stein
It's on Sun. 12/6, Noon-5 in Berkeley. See the website for details.

Steve, I really liked the first three paragraphs of the newsletter. I know Thor will, too. {emoticon insertion}

Wait, Wait, Wait...somewhere along the line, we had the Dylan conversation. If I recall, you said that you had absolutely no issue with the songs themselves. It was the vocals of the person who wrote those songs.

That only became an issue for me in the past 10-15 years. Sigh...

Ah, but have you heard his new Christmas album? The season just won't be merry and bright if Bob's not bleating "Do You Hear What I Hear?" at your holiday parties.

No, if only it was still a bleat, I get a dry croaky rasp these days.

Please tell me Little Drummer Boy is not on there!

to my enjoyment, zimmy's voice has (finally) taken on the timbre of a well aged shakuhachi flute or a very old double reed woodwind. crusty, gooselike and often off key, but not without it's own precisions. me likes.

You may assume the presence of missing emoticons, then.

It was 7(?) years ago as I believe that was a topic during my first visit to Boston. Perhaps, it was Theresa who stated that. Nevertheless, *every* single person I know who can't stand Dylan's voice makes it quite clear that his music, especially from 1963-66, is some of the greatest American music ever written.

But there's always an exception...

IMO, he's the Poet Laureate of the US from the latter part of the 20th century until now.

You know I'm not going to have an earnest conversation about this, right? Especially since you're using the Backstreet Boys defense, which is dumb. The music stands on its own merits, obviously.

's OK. I'm trying to ignore the fact that my team's success is coming at (from) the hands of someone I can't stand.
