Thursday Evening Piedmont

I've tried quite few 2006 trousseaus and none has yet dissapointed. If you can find them the '04s are showing even better.

Puff Daddy didn't pour a Poulsard M when we visited the domaine last month -- just the straight Poulsard, which was lovely. As we were there, pallets of 2006 Poulsard were packed and waiting for shipment to Rosenthal. So, I'm hopeful we begin to see it in a few weeks.

I've mostly given up on Puffeney's 2005 reds, although that may be hasty. Its just that the 2004 Poulsard was such an outstanding wine and turned me on to the Jura. The 2005 was well behind, but the 2006 seemed near the same standard.

Agreed. I adore all of Puffeney's '04s. Even Tissot is pretty good.

Jim, does Puffeney prefer Cristal or Armand de Brignac?

I think a lot of you that have "given up" on the 05's are just drinking them in an awkward phase. I'd propose, as i have discussed this issue with others as well, that given the soil type and clonal composition of the vineyard that the "M" cuvee is infact a wine that is worthy of much longer term aging. Be more patient and make sure you drink the wine while eating Puffeney Comte`.

The 'tavijn grignolino was very nice and we had a great run with the '07 Ruche` (currenty out of stock). When i tasted the 08 last week it was as i remember all the 'tavijn wines in their early days of post bottling life-angry!

Rahsaan, we are now down to one bottle...let me know. Also, we poured the 07 Lapierre tonight for our regular friday lineup...you are correct in noting how awsome it is drinking right now! '08 Albert Mann Pinot Blanc was really cool too.

The sparkling erbaluce is the real deal.

Thanks but I'll probably hold off given all the other wine that is out there and waiting for me to purchase!

But glad to hear that the Lapierre was such a pleasure. Fun fun stuff.

2006 Poiulsard M is now at Chambers. Shows what I know.
