Theobrama presidency

I will share the general amazement at Jay enjoying Dogfish 90 minute. I'm not one tenth the beer connoisseur as many around here, but this brew has generally struck me as perhaps the 200% new oak of hoppy brews.

But to each their own. Bless your heart.

Anyone else share a sensitivity to theobromines, btw?

Probably insufficient exposure to good beer. I only drink the stuff 3-4 times a year.

Lately I keep browsing the huge beer selection at Buy Rite having no idea of what's what.

That said, I did enjoy it.

I was amazed at what was available at Top Foods in little old Olympia, WA. when we visited last November. Eurobrews had expanded, but also, Euro-style domestic micros (if that's what they're called still) were very well represented. Had some good rauchbier, a decent xmas ale from trader joe's, some rogue ale and a nice selection of lambics too.

Seems like beer importers and domestic producers have both gotten a leg up lately.

Oh dear. I've broken Levi.

I admit I'm not a Dogfish Head 90-minute fan. It is a little like the 17.8% grenache of beer.

That would be the 120-minute IPA. Or any of the other 15% alcohol bombs they've made, with the super alcohol-tolerant yeast. World wide stout I'm looking in your direction, as well as Old-School Barleywine, which is something akin to a boilermaker made by dropping a full shot of grain alcohol in an already alcoholic barleywine...

I find anything made with those super yeasts to be completely devoid of flavor.

Yeah, you're right. I'm confusing from amongst the dizzying lineup.

To be fair, the wierdo Dogfish stuff isn't devoid of flavor. With all those additions...

The "beer advocate" loves them. Funny, the parallels.
Best,
Brian

Heh.

As noted in the original post, I'm not against the liquids themselves, whether or not I like a specific one. But I think we're well into cinnamon-dusted mango "bagel" territory with these brews.
