mushroom question

One of my neighbors likes to eat these. They are very numerous around my house.
I think she removes the tubes, and then peels the slime layer off the cap before cooking or drying them. It's too much work for me. They are a little like porcini, but not nearly as good.

Novacaesariensis

I have a New Jersey copper from 1786, before we had a Federal Government.

I show it to my class, magnified 10 feet tall on the screen, and I ask them what country they think it is from. It has a plough, a horse head, the date, and "Nova Caesarea" written plainly.

Very rarely does anyone come up with the answer, until I tell them "you are sitting in it..."
