A disappointing 02 Lapierre Morgon

Which ones?

If you're looking at the Bassins' selection, I've liked both the NSG and the Chenes Carteaux especially for the sub $30 price. I enjoyed the Clos des Porrets a lot more, but Bassins is out of that.

Of course this assumes that you like the Gouges style. I don't think anyone would claim the NSG or CC are 'great' wines but for the Bassins price I think they are well worth buying, if you like the style.

Gouges made good 1998s, but from what I've found, there is some rot that was not apparent when the wines were young. I have much more experience with Chevillon from this vintage (both good and bad), but it's worth rtrying the Gouges to see if you like it.

Well the 98s have been particularly good value there. If you do end up liking the style, other vintages are accessible and not priced in the stratosphere. But still not the same value as 98.
