CWD: '01 Roagna Langhe Rosso

2001 Roagna Langhe Rosso, alc 13%, $29....a recent release...opened to go with baked spaghetti....a very rustic and still fairly tannic wine...great steely structure and no overt sweetness...I would love to revisit this wine in 5 yrs...

Sounds good - from what I can gather, it's a Nebbiolo from younger vines in both Barolo and Barbaresco. It is a Polaner import?

A Louis/Dressner wine

Had this last wine night - what a great wine for the price. Classic Nebbiolo through and through. Delicious. Definitely has more life ahead of it.

The '03 is also showing quite well- I believe they bottled significantly less as DOCG, and that there was much declassification into the Langhe.

I thought it was superb as a pairing to sirloin, braised oxtail, and black rice at the restaurant, though Thor's opinion may be more impartial.
