I know WD doesn't go for those winehunter BS that other point chasing boards do, but with Lapierre a WD favorite for some I thought I would mention that Wine Discount in Chicago had as of last Fri the 06 mags for 9.99. For whatever reason I seem to enjoy the Chicago importers version better than KL so Mark Lipton and others in the Chicago area you may want to checkout if WD has any left.

Thanks for that, Mark. My stash of '06 Lapierre is gone, so this is timely, especially as we've got a reservation at Spring two weeks hence.

Two words: Close. Outs.

Lapierre's Chicago importer has changed from a very big to a medium-small distributor, so the behemoth is dropping their inventory at absurdly low prices. Hit or miss on the other wines; some of it good, some of it not so much. But there's your reason.
 
This wine was fantastic summer of '08.
My last bottle 10 months ago was completely fucked up.
Still have one to go.

For some reason, Foillard has almost zero presence in Chicago. Luckily, I stumbled upon two bottles of the '07 here recently. Last time I was in Detroit, I grabbed a mag of the '05 for $68 (a decent enough price I thought).
