Finally, an explanation

When I moved to New York a mere 46 years ago I was already slurping a little beer clandestinely and the only native brands I remember from back then were Pabst, Schlitz, Miller, Budweiser and Michelob. No microbreweries then, no Anchor Steam east of the SF Bay, no Sam Adams sold in NY... I thought they were the worst beers in the world. Beck's was a lifesaver.

pbr tastes like halitosis.

at least it's not in the blood like fat chicks and scooters.

beware the submerged shit in nola.

fb.

I vote for Reading Premium Beer as the real deal American-owned cheap lawnmower beer. Sure, it's a bought-out (or "re-introduced") brand that's contract brewed by Heritage, but it's a smaller-scale regional brew that goes down pretty easy. They're definitely targeting the hipster market with their retro slogan, "The Friendly Beer for Modern People."

Does Grolsch count as a cheap beer? I had it a while back and thought it was legitimately good, not just ironically good. I had it at a friend's house, so I don't know how much it costs.

No. That was kindah my point. I was a beer snob in college. I said no to cheap beer after an episode with Coors tall boys freshman year.

And then there was the dime from every can for the Contras.
