The 07s right now expose a somewhat candied yet still delicate sweetness, in a very similar way the 00s did at the same stage of their evolution. Given the fact how well many 00s are drinking today, I have high hopes for the best 07s developing into a very nice, immensely drinkable mid-term and mid-weight vintage, with very good terroir expression once the up-front fruit that is dominating right now has further integrated. In my modest view the 07s had better precision and transparency from the outset than 00, so there is a good chance that they ultimately might turn out as some sort of cross between 2000, 2001 and 2004. Time will tell.

An excellent assessment. The candied sweetness did throw me off a little, last month, but its dominance is undoubtedly of a temporary nature. I would have actually thought of a cross between 2000 and 1998, but perhaps a third-order approximation is a much wiser bet in today's economic climate.
