05 paolo bea rosso de veo. in the past this wine was a mixture of grapes from all over the estate. with the 05 it is the young vines sagrantino.

from the start the nose is amazing. olives, stones and this wondeful chalkiness that, on the nose, almost has a tactile feeling. then some slightly underripe red fruits.

on the palate i am equally as happy! its all there, the fruit the earth the... but what really makes it is the fine grained tannins and how they integrate the wine and cover the tongue like a safety blanket and make you purrrrrrrr...

it takes me back to a statement made here that bea wines have more soul than just about anyone else. taste this wine, have one of your hos put on your satin pjs and live the life. this is snoop dog wine!

is he doing rosso di veo every year?
it seemed to me like it was a wine of "purpose', like in 02 when he couldn't do anything but a single bottling...

my understanding is that now it will be every year and young vines until the vines are old enough to use in the main wine. was there an 03 or 04?

The 2005 Veo looks to be $60. The 2004 Sagrantino can be had for $80 (and the rosso for about $60). Worth it to pay $20 more for the lead wine?

yes, yes and yes. but if you need to drink today buy the veo.
