LA

Domaine LA on Melrose has a pretty good group of bottles right now. Clos Roche Blanche, Foillard, Puzelat, Pepiere, Occhipinti, etc. Probably my favorite smallish wine store in LA at the moment.

K&L is decent, of course, especially if you have a couple days to spare and can order something from another location and have it picked up at the Hollywood store.

Silverlake Wine has some interesting choices, but their bottles tend to be overpriced.

Wine House is considerably west of your target area, but they've got good stuff too - Foillard again, Rougeard, Huet. Some interesting Italian stuff.

since I asked you to be be specific, I should say that I do not know that area but it seems that others do so I don't feel so bad.
 
Wine Expo is a little far afield from Hollywood, but I believe that 55 Degrees in Atwater Village has some connection to it...same owner, maybe? Anyway, they share the same affinity for Champagne and off-the-beaten-path Italians. Italian wines, that is, not Italian citizens wandering around in foliage.

Just noticed my spelling error. Obviously I meant Champagne -- guess I was thinking about Illinois. It's so cold here in the San Francisco Bay Area, that's what it feels like.
 
In the WeHo, Silver Lake, Los Feliz area, stick to Silver Lake Wine, Domaine LA, K&L, 55 Degree, and Colorado Wine Company.

Wine House is good if you're in the area, but it's not worth the trip when those others are closer. If you do hit Wine House, stop by Twenty Twenty Wine Merchants for an amusing display of opulence, score worship, trophy cabs, and first growths. Wine Expo is 55 Degree's sister store, however what's on their website is usually better than their selection and 55 Degree has a fun tasting bar. Wally's has decent stuff, but they charge too much.

If you end up heading south, Wine Country just above Long Beach is fantastic as are Woodland Hills Wine Company and Liquid Partyworks northwest in the Valley.
 
btw Lou is across the street from the LA musician's union local 47 - another reason to hang. Who knows, some heavy cat may come in for a glass.

All the major shops have been mentioned, but I might add Du Vin on San Vicente by Melrose. Interesting selection, but sort of like 20-20 in that it's worth a visit just to see th place but you probably won't wind up buying anything. It just seems to work out that way whenever I'm there.

Larchmont Village Wine & Cheese has a surprisingly good selection of "our kind" of wine. Simon also carries the other, more pointy stuff but he's got a great palate and does a good job of offering wine people want along with wine that he things people should have. Good sandwiches too, so doubly worth the detour.

Palate Food + Wine in Glendale has a killer wine bar program, some of the best food in town, and there's a wine shop in the back with lots of interesting stuff...it's kinda Silverlake-ish, but a few miles further afield

Re: the 55 Degrees/Wine Expo connection, the owner of Wine Expo is a part-owner of 55 Degrees. The selection at both shops is good but the show and the knowledge at Wine Expo exceeds the goings-on at 55, particularly since Staci left the place to take over the wine program at The Little Door in Santa Monica.

I like Lou. Never attended a bris there, but it's sort of like going to Terroir without having to drive to SF. I can't recall seeing any heavy studio yo-cats hanging out there after rehearsing at Local 47, but that doesn't mean that you wouldn't see them if they did show up. They're more likely to be having a beer in the backroom of Stein on Vine.

Yes, of course. Larchmont Wine, Spirits, & Cheese. Good selection of wine, terrific sandwiches.

Staci left 55 Degree? [Frowns and puts on a Smiths record] I'll have to check out the Little Next Door.

I tried Lou recently and had quite the negative experience. Cute place, hip crowd - though slightly douchey, rude service, mediocre food, and an $8 thimble-sized glass of wine.
