CWD: Does Valentini Trebbiano need time?

Is Valentini Trebbiano aged in bottle and then hand-decanted into a fresh bottle before being released?

That was my notion as well. Many virtues, but consistency not one of them.
 
I have had two bottles of 1999 Valentini Trebbiano, the first clearly turning to secondary characteristics, drinking beautifully, the second barely evolved at all as far as I could tell. This suggests to me that they do age, but you need to keep those error bars in mind...

That confuses me too. Trebbiano Toscano is said to be the same as Ugni Blanc, which makes great wine...for distilling. Trebbiano Abruzzese is said to be different, perhaps the same as Bombino Bianco, but I've heard that Valentini makes his wine from Toscano...

There are other Trebbiano di Toscano renditions out there that seem to have surpassed the "would have been good distilled" marker as well. Pieve de' Pitti makes such a one, for instance, although perhaps not in the style that would appeal to most drinkers here.

I totally agree on the red, the white has been very consistent for me.
