December . . .

More or less CC, yes. Dinner at Distrito has become dinner at the French BYO across the street due to the latter's early closure, but no big. My brother-in-law just hauled a bunch of '93 Burgundies out of the cellar, so despite a downgrade in the adventurousness of the food, I think we'll drink OK...

But I'm glad I'm not back in Boston shoveling.

Well the BYOB will save you mucho dollars compared to Philly resto prices. Of course you're triple dipping considering it's from your bro-in-laws cellar and the older burgs. Report back on the BYOB please.

Tom, here's your BYOB report:

Cochon, one-minute walk from the front door, piggy/meaty and a lot of fun. Had pork cheeks with lentils, lamb ragu gnocchi, crispy pork foot, pork tenderloin, fries with bacon mayo, and so forth. Service is extremely affable if not always entirely together. 51 reservations canceled last night, by the time we left three tables (incl. ours) had been taken by walk-ins. Rough for a Saturday night. But I do recommend it.

I'd bring Rhnes, though. Or syrahs from elsewhere. Burgundy was a little overmatched.

Love this one, as well.

I quite can't figure this one out yet.

Day one is jammy and somewhat hot, expressing its full 14.5% abv with the acid being almost peppery and like, no mid palate. Day two and there is this big rush of tannins but the fruit is more integrated. It did go well with food.

It deserves another look.

I served (not really paired) the short ribs with a Canneto, Rosso di Montepulciano - inexpensive, but not that impressive.

What's not to figure out? You just described a Kane B+/A-.

Thanks for the report and hope you enjoyed your stay. I've eaten at Cochon and enjoyed it. We also brought a Burg, next time it'll be Rhone.
