My apologies to everyone in NYC. If I had known it was going to be this good I would have opened it when other people were around. Waxy with crystalline particle of packed acidity and citrus sprinkled throughout and making small pretty fireworks with every sip. Long persimmonny/grapefruity finish. The finish goes on for a yummy amount time, I timed it to be sure!

And this is only on first pour!
 
Very nice match with some duck thigh and leg braised/steamed over onion and thyme and then sauteed while the onions caramelized. Hasn't changed much in the last half hour.

To paraphrase a critic whose reviews I've not read since late 1994, I pity those who bought this wine in order to keep their hands off their 2002 Huet demi-secs.

Yes, that hasn't worked out as I intended. Half the bottle in the fridge, dregs from the glass are showing richer with more sugar. Really good now but really needs time.
 
I opened a 2002 Pinon and a 2002 Huet Le Mont Demi-Sec a month or so ago to do a side-by-side...Huet corked, the Pinon had some bizarre other fault that was really disturbing, a horrible acid thing. Oh well. 04, 06, and 07 Pinon have all been great for me this year, as has the 01 Huet Petillant, so it's mostly forgiven.

I've had a couple of horribly corked 2002 Huet Demis. Very strangely corked.

Same here. A gorgeous Le Mont recently and I have a LHL on deck for this coming weekend.

Yum. Such a strong life force in these wines-it can always be sensed, year in and year out.

Btw, I think I may have some '02 Pinon even though my inventory sheet says I don't.

Huet '02's have been surprisingly open all this time, though the last bottle I had showed hints that maybe it was starting to tighten up, but that was only the second tightish bottle out of probably close to two cases I've tried since release.
