2002 Pinon Vouvray Cuvee Tradition

Things have indeed fallen into a terrible state of affairs if Miller thinks he can get away with drinking '02 Pinon without sharing.

On the other hand, an '02 CdB demisec last month was unmistakably shut down. Still enjoyable, but a shell of its former self.

I've had a couple of horribly corked 2002 Huet Demis. Very strangely corked.

From the same batch, then? It was funny, you could kind of almost taste the chenin under there if you got past the wet cardboard-ish smell. But it never cleared up. Huet is not sold locally and is mostly out of my price range anyway, so this was a sad moment...

Well, you did try - I think you had brought this to Sich Gourmet some time back and between the Catoir, Adam and reds, we didn't get a chance to open this.

Cheers,

Salil [who also needs to buy more Pinon]

You're right. I had forgotten about that. Silly, silly people.

Cold from the fridge on day 2 it has a great limey, chalky thing going on.

Right on schedule. I've not opened this for a year, but what you have descirbed - vibrant straight from bottle, then a bit closed and superficially sweet, and then beautifully evolved around citrus and mineral - is exactly what I remember. It actually took mine two full days to get there, but that was in Russia. Much colder there.

My '02s are a continent away. But I still did not buy enough. I am willing to trade verticals of Vollenweider Shimbock in magnum.
