In his fine columntoday, Eric Asimov invites the genial Chris Cannon to taste aglianico with him, rather than the mind behind the man, the power behind the scene, our own Levi. Whassup with that?
 
Chris is perhaps the most knowledgeable Aglianicoaphile in the city. The man was busy selling '68 Mastroberardino back in 1983.
 
I had a 2006 Aglianico from Paso Robles tonight that was pretty good. It came from a winery called Giornata and was made by a wine rep named Brian Terrizzi (not Taurasi). This was the first wine from these vines and isn't for sale, but it bodes well for the future of this variety in central California. IIRC, the grapes were foot-trod and aged in puncheons. It showed some forward dark fruit, moderate tannins (under control though) and was very drinkable. He's also making some Nebbiolo but that won't be bottled for a little while yet.

Still rather trod my tired ass over to Vulture or the Neapolitan slopes for the Real McCoy.
 
Plenty of Volcanic stuff here, but not in Paso as much as the Sierra foothills, and a lot of the North Coast counties. (Try convincing Harlan to plant Aglianico) If I was just starting out here, I think I'd start with Aglianico and Vermentino.

Were this board not operating under new rules of propriety and maturity I'd be tempted to point out the inherent pussiness of your carefully cultivated neutrality. There can be no morally justifiable neutrality in the great vegetable-related struggles of our age; if you're not on the side of evenly-sliced chunks, you're on the side of chaos and the random slaughter of small cute animals with amusing captions.

As it is, I'll have to be content to merely slink back into the e-shadows and plot my revenge on the whole pack of you.

So you have seen Bresson! This was a nice summary of the underlying juxtaposition inherent within The Devil Probably. Well done, Sir!
 
I was rolling my eyes at Bresson's flicks while you were still in diapers. I had enough catholicism at Sunday School, I don't need it when I'm at the movies.

Odd enough, that's a nice summary of the underlying juxtaposition inherent within the first version (HB Halicki) of "Gone In 60 Seconds"!
