Foillard 2007 Morgon CdP Drinking Window

Is this popular item a drink now or hold, or just a drink now wine? Modest browsing casts modest doubt on its aging qualities (perhaps due to low sulfur).

Well, this is a controversial subject. It should be great now, though I have not had it. Generally speaking, for me the Morgon sweet spot is with around 8-10 years, varying somewhat with the vintage. Generally I don't like them at around 3-6 years - they don't really close up, but they're often a little dumb.

With regard to the volatility/bretty aspect, well, hard to know. I generally don't associate Foillard with issues around this, but you probably saw my post about the 02 mag that we had. Of the Gang of Four, I think Thevenet is the worst offender. The only Lapierre I've had that had issues was one marked as a nonsulfered wine, and, well, it had issues (though another bottle from the same stash was apparently great, tho I didn't participate).

I'd tend to age it.

It is still drinking very well, as of last week, but I like them young.
Drink and hold, whatever, happy new year.

This is useful because my favorite Gof4 Morgons so far have been a half dozen 04 Thevenets VVs drunk during the first half of last year, so I've been thinking they should all have 3-6 years under their belt. None of the 06s or 07s (from him or the others) have come close to being as good, except maybe an 06 P'tit Max at Verre Vol, so I'm holding onto those for a few years more, if I can keep my hands off them.

Stop asking newbie questions. How long have you been here?

I've been sick most of the week, so we've been holding. When Joe relentlessly bullied me into buying this stuff, I could only find magnums nearby, so we'll have to wait for another festive occasion to learn more.
